About Us

Learn more about Mainstone Vets

Welcome to Mainstone Veterinary Clinic. The principal aim of our practice is to provide you and your pets with the highest standard of veterinary care, in a friendly, helpful and informative environment.

Our practice provides a first opinion diagnostic and surgical service for your pets in times of illness, but we are also there to provide you with the best in preventative healthcare - we would far rather keep your pets well, than have to treat them when they are ill!

Our veterinary care is underpinned by the use of a full range of modern and up to date treatments and medications, and if necessary, we can arrange referrals to a wide range of specialists, in many fields.

We are equipped to do the vast majority of investigations and surgical procedures, including computerised laboratory facilities on-site, and all surgery is carried out using the latest anaesthetic agents, with procedures constantly monitored by our fully qualified team of veterinary nurses.

Facilities

We pride ourselves on being able to provide you and your animals with the best facilities that we can. Our operating theatres are equipped with modem inhalation anaesthetic machines linked to gas scavenging equipment for staff and patient safety. All anaesthetised patients receive constant supervision and monitoring from our highly trained nursing team.

Our modem surgical equipment is supplemented with electrosurgery facilities to assist in certain techniques.

We have recently upgraded our dental facilities with the purchase of a high-speed air driven dental station to widen the range of dental services that we are able to offer.

Our inpatients are hospitalised in the highest quality kennel facilities, with access to an exercise area, if required. They are under constant supervision from the nursing team, and our kennel area, like the rest of our clinic, is air-conditioned for your pet's comfort.

Diagnostics

We have our own practice laboratory to enable us to provide you with rapid results on most lab samples - blood, urine, skin etc. that we may need to take.

Our imaging facilities include both x-ray and ultrasound scanning equipment.

Our Commitment

All these tools would be of little importance without the backup of a caring environment for the treatment of your pets.

We are now able to offer in-house rehabilitation physiotherapy after surgery and accidents, as well as various techniques to assist in the management of chronic pain conditions like arthritis.

Equally important is the practice commitment to regularly attend clinical meetings and training courses, in order to be able to pass on to you and your pets the benefits of the most up to date knowledge and techniques.

We are justly proud of the quality of facilities that we are able to offer you and your pets, and we would be delighted to show you around the clinic at any convenient time - please just ask at reception.

Community Liaison

At Mainstone Vets we feel lucky to not only work in such a beautiful part of the world but also to be part of such a fantastic community. All our staff are so passionate about what they do, whenever time allows, we are keen to help spread the word about what goes on in a Vets, and what its like to work in such a wonderful profession. We love the idea that we could inspire the next generation of Vets and Veterinary Nurses to work in such an amazing profession. We have vets who have visits schools and groups in the local community with pictures of equipment, stethoscopes, x-ray pictures to help spread the word.

We also love arranging events at the practice, with plans for open days (to see behind the scenes at Mainstone Vets), first aid evenings and for nearly 10 years have sponsored the dog shows at the Romsey Show and been the on-call small animal attending Vet.
